How does an air conditioner work?

An air conditioner works by utilizing the principles of refrigeration to cool and dehumidify the air in a space. It consists of several key components, including a compressor, condenser, expansion valve, and evaporator coil. The process begins with the compressor, which pressurizes and heats the refrigerant gas. This high-pressure gas then flows to the condenser, where it releases heat to the surrounding environment and condenses into a liquid. The liquid refrigerant then travels through the expansion valve, which reduces its pressure and temperature. As a result, the refrigerant absorbs heat from the indoor air as it passes through the evaporator coil, causing the air to cool. The cooled air is then distributed back into the space while the refrigerant cycle continues, removing excess moisture and continuously cooling the air within the area.
