How can cancer be inherited genetically or caused by mutations?
Cancer can be inherited genetically when individuals inherit certain gene mutations from their parents that increase their risk of developing cancer. These inherited mutations can disrupt the normal functioning of cells and lead to uncontrolled growth and division, ultimately causing cancer. Additionally, cancer can also be caused by acquired mutations that occur during a person's lifetime as a result of exposure to certain environmental factors, such as tobacco smoke or UV radiation. These acquired mutations can similarly disrupt the genetic code of cells and drive cancer development. Both genetic inheritance and acquired mutations play significant roles in the development of cancer.
